Your First Regatta

What to Expect at your first regatta.

Welcome to your first regatta!

Clothing

Check the weather before heading out and dress in layers, as conditions can change. Bring hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, a change of clothes for your rower, and towels. Don’t forget your rower's uniform, as it's a common oversight.

Footwear

Choose appropriate footwear. Hiking boots are great for early mornings, but rowers should wear shoes that can get wet. Bring extra socks since temperatures drop in the fall, and keep spare shoes and socks in the car.

Packing

Use a spare backpack for your rower's gear to keep everything organized.

Camp Chairs

Bring camp chairs for comfortable seating during the event.

Water Bottles

Soft-sided water bottles are essential; hard-sided ones can damage boats. A drink station will be available at the Food Tent.

Photography

Don’t forget your camera! We’ll have shared sites for uploading and sharing event photos.

Binoculars

Binoculars can be handy at some venues to better spot teams.

Meet Up

Head to the large blue WBC logo tent for the Food Tent, uniforms, spirit wear, and information about the Wine and Dine event.

Food and Drinks

Come hungry! We will serve hot meals at the Food Tent, sometimes food trucks will be available.

Booster Help

We need volunteers! Signing up helps support our rowers, and you can still watch races while assisting.

Venue

Arrive early to avoid long walks to the water.  You can find venue information for each regatta in the Regatta section of our site.

Parking Fees

Parking at HoC costs $10, preferably in cash.  Other regattas vary.  Generally they are cash only.

Regatta Walkthrough

Join us for a walkthrough at the first regatta, led by an experienced member. Check the Booster Facebook site for the time.

Safety

Stay alert for moving equipment and adhere to areas marked by yellow safety tape. Remember, the “do not enter” tape applies to everyone.

Duration

Regattas run from 7:30-8:00 am to around 3:00 pm. Rowers should help de-rig and load boats after racing. Ask a Booster if you have questions. Look for the woman with Advil and Diet Mountain Dew for assistance. We’re all here to support each other; WBC truly is family.
