Director of Rowing
Sharon Kriz
Sharon graduated from Rutgers University in 1998 with a B.S. in Exercise Science and Sports Studies and is a 3 time USA National Team member. She took up rowing in her freshman year and went on to lead the Scarlet Knights to a gold medal in the JV 8+ at the 1995 IRA Championship, a team bid to the inaugural NCAA Rowing Championships in 1997, and the MVP award in her senior year. While at Rutgers Sharon also competed on the 1997 and 1998 USA Under 23 National Team, winning a silver medal at the 1998 Under 23 World Championships. In 2003 she won gold medals in the Elite 1x at the US National Championships, Senior Women’s 2x at the Canadian Henley, and 4th in the Championship 2x at the Head of the Charles. In 2005, she sat in the bow seat of the US Women’s 8+. She placed 3rd at the Munich World Cup Regatta, 4th at the World Championships in Gifu, Japan, and 1st in the Championship 8+ at the Head of the Charles. Sharon has been coaching youth rowing since the fall of 2000. She served as the Head Coach/Rowing Director at the Saugatuck Rowing Club before doing the same at the Maritime Rowing Club. Under Sharon’s leadership, she has qualified athletes to race at the USRowing Youth National Championships every year since 2007. In most recent years she has helped the MRC men’s team to gold medals at Youth Nationals in the Youth 4x (2023), U15 4x+ (2023), U17 4x (2022), U16 4x+ (2022). Sharon has helped multiple athletes achieve success on the US National Team, most recently Olive Bub raced in the 2024 Olympic 2-, and many others to top tier Collegiate rowing programs.

Amber Cayci
Amber joined the coaching staff, after graduating from the University of Kansas, in 2025. While a high school rower at WBC, she was recruited for their NCAA Division 1 team, rowing all four years. She prides herself in helping KU return and consecutively placing top 10 at the Head of the Charles regatta in 2022, 2023, and 2024, as well as rowing in the 1V stern pair for major regattas her junior and senior years. She was named academic all Big 12 first team all four years and All-Big 12 team in 2025. Amber won both a silver and bronze medal at conference championships within her collegiate career. Returning to Williamsburg after college, Amber is excited to help WBC by sharing her collegiate rowing background and competitive edge to elevate performance at Williamsburg rowing. Amber enjoys cooking, being outdoors, attending CrossFit 1607, and keeping up with Jayhawk sports! Rock Chalk! She is currently studying for her Master’s degree in Nutrition, to become a registered dietitian.
