Masters Rowing

The Masters Rowing Program at Williamsburg Boat Club provides experienced adult rowers with tailored training, personalized coaching, and opportunities for competitive racing, enabling them to refine their skills and pursue their passion for rowing at a high level.

Annual Masters Memberships are available starting in January. Half-year membership after June 1.

Membership Includes: Voting rights, access to boat reservations via iCrew (some restrictions may apply based on skill and boat availability), private boat storage on a first come basis (additional fees may apply), access to all Masters programs and activities (additional fees apply for coaching).

Participation in the Masters Coached session is an additional fee. Tuesday and Wednesday rowing is mid-March through mid October. Saturday and Sunday rowing continues through November as long as the weather is conducive to rowing.

The actual date will be communicated during the season.

Guest Rowing

Experienced rowers who are interested in Williamsburg Boat Club are welcome to participate in Masters sessions on a limited, trial basis.

  • Guests must have prior rowing experience and be able to safely handle equipment. A signed waiver and USRowing Basic Membership are required for insurance purposes.

  • All guest rowing must take place within scheduled group sessions or with coach approval. Independent rowing is not permitted without prior clearance from a WBC coach.

  • New experienced rowers may participate in up to one week of Masters sessions as a guest. Following this trial period, athletes are expected to transition into a standard program membership to continue participating.

  • Email mastersrep@williamsburgboatclub.org to arrange your guest rowing!

Visiting Rower Membership

For experienced rowers who are temporarily in the Williamsburg area, we offer a short-term Visiting Rower Membership that allows participation in Masters coached sessions.

This option is intended for non-local athletes (those living more than 50 miles from WBC) and is designed for short-term use.

  • iCrew registration, a signed waiver and USRowing Basic Membership are required

  • Coach approval required

  • Typically limited to 1–3 months

This membership is not intended to replace participation in a standard Masters membership or other WBC training programs. Athletes who wish to continue beyond this period are expected to transition into a full membership.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING with Crossfit 1607

WBC partners with Crossfit 1607 to complement the water and land training that we do at the boathouse. Building body awareness, coordination, mobility, flexibility and strength are an integral part of proper athletic development, improved water performance, injury prevention and the promotion of better overall well being! The WBC coaches work with 1607 to put a full comprehensive rowing development program together. We recommend and encourage our rowers to sign up for the additional training.

Private Lessons are available
